Keynote Speaker: Roger Staiger III

The Financial Crisis and its Effect on Maryland

Roger Staiger's areas of expertise include global Portfolio Management, Capital Markets, Derivatives and Risk Management and Financial Modeling. He is a Fund Manager for a Development/Construction Fund in New York, responsible for all aspects of the $1.25B portfolio which invests all commercial asset classes on a national footprint. His is also a full-time lecturer at The John Hopkins University Edward St. John Department of Real Estate.

Mr. Staiger's professional experience includes multiple years as Chief Financial Officer for a Mid-Atlantic regional developer and builder. Prior to his CFO position, he was Managing Director with Constellation Energy for both the gas and electric retail commodity divisions. Prior to Constellation, he was the Finance Executive for Clark Construction, a privately held national commercial builder and Senior Quantitative Analyst for Columbia Energy.

In addition to his position at The Johns Hopkins University, Mr. Staiger holds faculty positions at both The Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI) and Loyola College. At DREI he lectures on Global Portfolio Management. At Loyola College he lectures on Derivatives, Financial Modeling, and Financial Strategy in the MS Finance, Executive MBA, and evening MBA programs.

Mr. Staiger currently serves on the Real Estate Finance Committees for several local Washington Metropolitan Builders Industries. He is a member of the Edward St. John Advisory Board at The Johns Hopkins University and a member of the Sellinger Applied Portfolio Advisory Board at Loyola College. He is proud to have reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in December, 2007.

Mr. Staiger was born in 1970 in Oakland, California. He earned his BS Electrical Engineering degree from Bucknell University, his MBA and MS Finance degrees from George Washington University, and his MA from George Mason University.
